The Story
"To You" is an intimate song filled with uncertainty and hope. Brent allowed me to do ALL the vocals on this one. not allowed in the sense that I couldn’t do what I desired on this song but Brent has this belief that harmonies should be different voices than the lead vocal to add dynamic contrast. he is correct of course but my thought for this song was that I wanted this to be a Tall Paul choir, not harmony vocals and ultimately he enjoyed the outcome. there are a lot of moving parts in the vocal parts so my barbershop singing and arranging came in very handy on this one. John Mock played the lovely cello part. I mentioned this elsewhere, this was my first album as a solo artist and Brent’s first album as producer. we both learned a lot along the way and he has been involved in some way in all of my subsequent recordings. B is still a great friend and a groovy dude! check out any of his mandolin solos on the Steeldriver albums.
Lyrics
Days begin so differently. Then all become the same. You try and try looking for your freedom wealth and fame. You try so hard to find away. To make things happen day today. The things that matter most of all get lost or fade away. CHORUS I love the way you hold my hand. I love the way you understand. And when things get too out of hand. I sing this song to you. I sing this song to you. To you. feelings that we have inside. Thoughts that we convey. secrets that we never tell. the Words so hard to say. The plans we make. The things you do. The differences between the two. I hope the dreams you dare to dream continue to come true CHORUS
