The Story

This song, "Listen to That Radio" is what I have always felt about being a songwriter. I have literally heard songs in my head (original songs) since I was very young, and thought that was something that everyone experienced. It was not until late in high school that I discovered that other people in fact did NOT hear songs in their head at all! Upon realizing that, I figured that maybe I should try to get these songs out of my head, and into a format that other folks could listen to them. It took from the time I realized that (let's say 18 years old) until I actually wrote a song that I could record (I was about 33). Now to be fair, in that 15 year span, I was busy going to college, getting married, raising kids, and making a "living". But once I gfigured out how to complete a song and sing it, I couldn't wait toget at it. And that is when my first attempts at songwriting started happening. This song would have been impossible for me to write when I was yonger becuase it requires a little more than rudimentary understanding of how to get that idea from your head into a song that people would actually like to listen to. The fact that this song is actually about songwriting is frankly now, "ironic". Hope you enjoy it!

Lyrics

Ever since I was a young boy, I’ve heard music in my head It’s always been there with me, just like a trusted friend And sometimes it drives me crazy, like a constant serenade But other times it gets me through my day Well I guess what I’m really tryin’ to say… CHORUS: When I listen to that radio that’s playin’ in my head I tune in a world of melodies that no one else’s heard yet Well it just might be a hit song, or a song I should forget When I listen to the radio that’s playin’ in my head By the time I got to high school, I was singing in a band Playing all your favorite hit songs, and turning on the fans But I never was quite satisfied, playing someone else’s songs So I decided I should write my own Now I thank God that radio is on… CHORUS BRIDGE: And now you’re singing with me, like a song you’ve heard before I guess that I should listen to that radio some more CHORUS
